The beautiful Indian actress Kareena Kapoor is informally called Bebo. Kareena Kapoor was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India on 21 September 1980. She belongs to the film family of India. Both her father Randhir Kapoor and mother Babita were Indian film actors. There are many members of the Kapoor family in the Indian film. Kareena Kapoor’s elder sister Karisma Kapoor was also actress. She is of Punjabi origin and is the granddaughter of the illustrious actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor. Kareena Kapoor ‘s great-grandfather is actor Prithviraj Kapoor and actor Rishi Kapoor is her uncle.

Kareena Kapoor says that her name "Kareena" is derived from the name of the Leo Tolstoy book ‘Anna Karenina’. Her mother read this book while she was pregnant and the child when born was named Kareena.

Kareena Kapoor’s first film was ‘Refugee’ in 2000. Her brilliant performance in the film won her the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award for the year. Year 2001 was great for Kareena because her film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ emerged as India's highest grossing film in 2001 in the international market. This film has earned Kareena Kapoor great reputation and the film continues to be her ever biggest commercial success.

In the 2004 film ‘Chameli’ Kareena Kapoor played the role of a sex worker. Her brilliant performance in the film won this hot Bollywood actress the Filmfare Special Performance Award for the year. Also her outstanding performance in ‘Dev’ (2004) and ‘Omkara’ (2006) won Kareena Kapoor two Critics Awards for Best Actress at the Filmfare ceremony.
