Sonakshi Sinha will be busy in 2011

Sonakshi Sinha is the flavour of the season. 2011 looks like a terrific year for this star kid. She starts to shoot Joker with Akshay Kumar early in the year. She joins the unit of Race-2 in July with Saif Ali Khan and then goes into Kick with Salman Khan. Rumours say that she is also kicked about the fact that she is being considered for Kunal Kohli’s film with Shahid Kapoor, Prabhu Devaa’s film with the Khiladi Kumar...and wait there is more. We now hear that Sonakshi may be seen in Anurag Basu’s film Silence (the title is being changed shortly) alongwith Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. Yup, this is the same film that Katrina Kaif turned down because she felt that Piggy Chops had a better role than her. Neither Sonakshi nor her manager are willing to comment on her films with Shahid and Ranbir. But the industry is buzzing with the news already.

Anushka Sharma scored pretty impressive at the moment

Shahrukh Khan starrer ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ was the introduction vehicle of the feisty performing artist Anushka Sharma. Notwithstanding ‘Rab Ne…’ did for her what ‘Om Shanti Om’ did for Deepika or ‘Dabang’ did for Sonakshi.Anushka got off to a flying start in her very first film that had the stamp of Yash Raj banner and the omnipresence of the King Khan. Anushka, as per reports, had a 3 film contract with the Yash Rajs and even though she may deny this piece of news, there is no denying the fact that her next two releases have come from the same factory. After the super hit ‘Rab Ne…’ which gave Anushka the platform she needed, she tried to conjure up something special with ‘Badmaash Company’. The film, however, sank and the only thing that got noticed was her yellow sarong and her bed scene with Shahid Kapoor. But just when the critics were about to write her off, ‘Band Baaja Baraat’ happened and the equations changed. A refreshing take on wedding and romance, Anushka was the only wel

Vidya Balan is getting bolder role in Ekta Kapoor’s film

The buzz is that Vidya has all but agreed to play the lead role in Ekta Kapoor’s film Ragini MMS, which is a based on a bold subject and will have many explicit scenes. In fact, Kapoor had previously talked with Kangana Ranaut for the role, but the actress had chickened out as she wasn’t in the mood to do something so bold. Now, Vidya is Ekta’s best bet. Why? Because Vidya is already acting in Dirty Picture, which is based on the life of the south sex bomb Silk Smitha. The spokesperson for Ekta’s company has refused to confirm or deny the fact that Vidya has been approached, which means a deal is indeed in the works.

Katrina's Sheila Ki Jawani brings crowds to TMK

Katrina Kaif’s sensuous Sheila Ki Jawani number brought in the audiences in droves to watch Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan, with the movie garnering 90-95 percent occupancy on the day of its release Friday. With their curiosity whetted by Katrina’s slithery moves in television promos of the film, the Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif starrer was a hit on its first day. However, industry insiders predict the huge turnout is mostly due to Katrina’s dance number. ’We are having good advance bookings for Tees Maar Khan and the initial response is good, with almost 90 percent occupancy, but the content is not at all as per expectations,’ said Yogesh Raizada, corporate head (cinemas) of Wave Cinemas. ’Audiences are mostly queuing up to watch Katrina Kaif in Sheila Ki Jawani, and that’s about it,’ he added. Amit Awasthi, senior manager (programming and operations) of Spice Cinemas, said: ’The movie has opened to a fantastic initial with over 95 percent occupancy and the audiences are coming in mostly du
