Born in Dehra Dun, India on September 2, 1984, Udita Goswami’s original name was Virgoan Udita . Her parents are from the North-Eastern State of Assam. Udita comes from a very traditional and conservative family, and studied in D.A.V. Public School until the 8th standard.

Always wanting to be part of showbiz, she was not quite happy with her life in Dehra Dun. When she proposed to leave town for Bombay, her parents initially opposed, but subsequently let her have her own way. She soon started modeling for Nokia, Star Movies, Pepsi and Titan watches.

One of India's leading models, Udita is the winner of MTV Model Mission 2 and of prestigious Model of the Universe Asia 2001 and can also been seen on covers of ELLE, Femina, Cosmopolitan, Bride n Home, Zinc, etc. She has been very active on ramp and is featured in shows by Suneet Verma, Tarun Tahilyani, Nikki Mahajan and Ranna Gill.

Her first break in Bollywood came when she bagged a role opposite to John Abhrahim in Pooja Bhatt’s Paap. The movie was not a great success at the box office, but, Udita with her fresh and stunning looks sure turned lots of eyes and was noticed both by the fans and the producers. That got her a second chance with Zeher opposite Dino Morea and Emraan Hashmi. Fortunately the movie was successful and Udita career graph shot really high. Part of the movies success could be attributed to the controversy surrounding the movie and Udita. The movie was full of explicit scenes and kisses and Udita showed too much skin.

Udita’s next appearances came in Aksar and Dil Diya Hai. Udita has already been established as a sex symbol in Bollywood. She is being very careful in signing her future movies and she is reviewing the offers she is getting quite cautiously. She is open to offers to do commercial films only if the script is good and she likes it.
