Raveena Tandon Biography

Raveena Tandon : a name that will always be synonymous to the song “Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast”. She is categorized among the top actresses of the 90s and has given some brilliant performances in her career. Today she is married and for the time being acting has taken a back seat for this versatile actress.

Born in Mumbai to famous director Ravi Tandon and Veena Tandon, Raveena derives her name from them too. She has a younger brother Rajiv and her sister in law is Rakhi Tandon (Sweety of Hum Paanch). As a child, she attended the Jamnabai Narsee school in Juhu where she was also the head girl.

Raveena dropped out of Mumbai’s Mithibai college to persue modeling. Though she did a few assignments, she was not too successful in the modeling industry. In 1991, Raveena debuted opposite Salman Khan in “Pathar Ke Phool” which was soon forgotten.

Real success came to her with “Mohra” and “Andaz Apna Apna” both released in 1994. Her “Mast Mast” number imeediately brought her immense name, fame and stardom. Raveena was now a reigning superstar of Bollywood.

Raveena is credited with some flop films like “Taqdeerwala”, “Ziddi”, “Daava” and “Salaakhein”. She also did meaningful roels which was gradually transforming her image from a sexy siren to a sensible actress.

After her alleged link ups with Akhshay Kumar and the subsequent break up, Raveena tried to revive her career with films like “Shool” and “Ghaath”. This was followed by “Daman”, “Aks”, “Satta”, “Stu,ped” etc. her sincerity towards acting could be seen when she won the National Award as the Best Actress in 2001 for playing the tortured wife in Kalpana Lazmi’s “Daman”.

From a club dancer in “Aks” to a surpressed wife in “Daman”, Raveena has made her way into the hearts of her fans through dedication and a lot of hard work. Her growth as a person has been equal.

Today Raveena is married and has a daughther too. She is expecting her 2nd baby this July. We hope to see her join the silver screen soon.
