Priyanka Chopra Biography

With twinkling eyes, full of life and a most fascinating smile, Priyanka Chopra was the first girl child born to a large family consisting of her father, retired army officer, Dr. Ashok Chopra, mother Dr. Madhu Chopra her brother and a number of cousins and relatives.

Due to the frequent transfers in the army, Priyanka moved from Kerela in the south to Leh-Ladakh in the north from Bombay in the West to Jamshedpur in the east. Moreover, her father is a Punjabi while her mother is from Bihar. As a result, she imbibed varied cultural ethos.

A family favourite, Priyanka grew up with the warmth of love bestowed upon her by all her aunts uncles and grand parents. She grew up to have a confidant personality. She joined the La Martiniere school, Lucknow and then the Maria Goretti College, Rae bareilly.

In 2000, Priyanka participated in Femina Miss India pageant and went on to win the miss India World crown. That very year, she won the Miss World title bringing a lot of fame and pride to her country.


Like many other beauty contest winners, Priyanka also followed the path to Bollywood. There was no lack of offers for this 5’7” lissome lass and in 2002, she debuted in “The Hero”. Thereafter, we saw her in a number of films such as “Plan”, “Kismat”, “Mujhse Shaadi Karogi”, “Waqt”, “Bluffmaster”, “Krishh” and the latest “Salaam-e-Ishq”and “Don”.

With each of her films, Priyanka has visibly matured in terms of her acting. She has a great sense of style and a great body to flaunt. She has already won more than 10 awards for films like “Aitraaz”, “Andaaz” and “Krishh”.

Her forthcoming films include “Drona”, “Kajri”, “Sahib Biwi Aur Gulam” and “London Dreams”.

Priyanka is the only Indian in the USA to have been selected at the state level for the National Opus Honor Choir. With a no. of charity works she has done, Priyanka is now looking forward to lead the 27th India Day in August to celebrate the country's 60th Independence Day.
